I got an Aldi one a while ago. Think it cost 25 squids. It works fine for me, with the limited amount of jobs I use it for.
I suppose it'll depend on how much you'll use one as to how heavy duty it needs to be.

I have one like this. It's bolted to a worktop. I grip the bike by the seat tube. It balances pretty well in that position. I chose this one because I don't have the space or the energy to keep packing away a stand when I've finished using it.

Yep - I have one of those too (although mine was £14 earlier this year) - I modified it very slightly by super-gluing an old Allen key into the lockbolt that holds the horizontal tube to the vertical one to make a "lever" - it means I can use the captive Allen key to loosen the bolt and swing/swivel the horizontal tube round to be above the bench instead of sticking out when it's not in use. The one thing I did find is that the bench it's bolted to needs to be pretty substantial to avoid tipping over (mine is stuffed with drawers full of cycle parts!)

I also have a floor-standing model that cam from Rose in Germany - excellent, just takes up foor space though so it's been demoted other than for the odd task where the bench mounted stand doesn't work.

Like @Wetdog - I'm in the same position needing a new workstand.

I've had the Aldi/Lidl one but the bike clamp keeps coming loose, even with a different bolt. It's already damaged one bike so I've decided to get a better one - still to be found / ordered.

Get one with a lever rather than a screw clamp, just makes life easier.

That's the one I'm thinking of jonny
More than acceptable. Takes my MTB, single speed and road bike weights. Has a little magnetic tool and component tray and has a lever operated clamp and able lock.

The only thing that occasionally winds me up is the little protectors on the clamp mouth sometimes come off and need to be pushed back on. If I loose one the clamp will be wonky, so always find it if it falls off and replace it....i must get the glue gun out.

I have a Park stand which is at least 20 years old. When I bought it there were limited options available (pre-internet days^_^) and I would probably go for one of the cheaper options now available.

But, having said that, it still performs faultlessly, so maybe this is one of those areas where you "buy cheap, buy twice"?
