Thanks for all of the replies!! Waiting for the weather to change a bit and then I'm on the way!!
@smoggie And how was it then, in terms of surface?

I did it in 2019, its rough in parts but not impassable. Might be a bit squirrely when wet though.

Pics show the track at different parts, viaduct was great but it's mostly a mix of the other 2 parts.

Whilst there is a tiny bit of improvement at Cloughton it is by far the worst condition popular cycle track you will find in the UK.
After some long dry weather it is tarversable by families but at other times it could scar the unknowing.

Other routes in the north east are benefitting from some good investment whilst that continues with the severe neglect.

He's not wrong though. I did most of it last October and there's a stretch near Robin Hood's Bay which is agricultural in the 'feels ploughed, rather badly' sense of the term.

It got discussed in that podcast I recommended (podcast thread.)

Families can do Whitby to Hawsker but beyond that it is in the hands of the gods.

He's still waiting for the weather to improve! And I thought we had it bad on the Costa Clyde .

I did this a couple of weeks ago most of it if fine for a hybrid, but some bits especially around Robin Hoods Bay, I would have preferred the MTB.
