Vos . EvD but she's retiring I hear . ELB AvdB

Pog MvdP wout . None of them are ahats and they influence or are a symptom of our current era . They all have class .

Wout is a bit of an underachiever but no one has ever been a more decisive super domestique in all my years following the sport

I feel there are so many other worthy mentions

Legs

usually riding on Zwift...
Location
Staffordshire
Tadej Pogačar - the modern-day Cannibal
Jan Ullrich - took the fight to Armstrong like no other in the brilliant '03 Tour
Laurent Jalabert - a brilliant palmarès

Emma Pooley - aggressive and inspirational on the bike, an outspoken activist off the bike
Laura Trott - every race she rode was exciting!
Marianne Vos - her longevity is extraordinary

I'm a little bit late to the party on this one. I've gone for active riders just for fun.

Femmes

Lotte Kopecky - Tough as nails and versatile with it. My favourite rider full stop.

Demi Vollering - Hard to argue that she's not the strongest rider out there in 99% of the races. A bit disappointing compared to her usual standards in this year's TDFF, but that was down to a sublime performance from PFP, you really can't argue with that.

Niamh Fisher Black - Always there or thereabouts and I'm sure she'll get the elusive big win in the near future.

Special mentions (I know, nobody asked!) go to Mischa Bredewold for her selfless work for her team and her occasional well fought victories. As well as Justine Ghekiere, for the same reasons.

On the men's side, I'm not so bothered, however the below are characters I like.

Julian Alaphilippe - Always a likeable rider, animated and looking to create something. Has dwindled a bit recently but will always be a favourite of mine.

Jonas Vingegaard - Maybe a bit left field, but I feel like he's misunderstood as being a bit dull. Monster of a rider who would probably be viewed differently had he not had the misfortune to be around at the same time as Pogacar. Seems like a really nice guy and just wants to get on with it.

Matteo Jorgenson - I love his fun facts on the Victor Campanaerts vlog and I think there's much more to come from him in the future. I hope so anyway.

I’m very fond of Ghekiere! I reckon she’s a top team mate!!

Her work for Kopecky's second world championship road race was a model of selflessness on an absolutely horrendous day. The way she celebrated that was like she'd won it herself, you could tell she was genuinely all in. Couldn't fail to raise a smile at her talking Gigante down a few of the descents in the TDFF as well. Top character.
