We had "tornado steak" fillet with bacon fried in garlic, green beans, broccoli, salad and Duphonaise potatoes ( no spuds for me), with some velvety red wine. Lovely July!

Today was plum and blackberry crumble with soya cream for starter, main and dessert! My oh is struggling in the kitchen! Blackberries and homemade but pre-made crumble were both in the freezer! Still it was all I wanted

and my full english pales into insignificance.

I have mussels for tea tonight, they were reduced in the shops this morning, so I decided that I could have a different tea to the rest of them, since no one else will eat them, they are going to have salmon and cous cous.

The twins take turns in choosing Sunday dinner. Whoever has done the choosing is then supposed to help me prepare and cook the meal. Generally I end up cooking the whole thing. I must get them back into helping mode. In season, preparing includes going to the allotment and digging/picking the ingredients!

Today it was giant Yorkshire pudding filled with roast vegetables and onion gravy.

Not us. Life is so chaotic. Both us grown ups work shifts or on-call, and being divorced means sharing the kids out to our ex's, so a proper family sunday lunch is far and few between.
Nice when we do manage it though.

Roast pork, crackling, roast potatoes, mashed carrots, roast parsnips, red cabbage, yorkshire puds (I know), gravy from the meat juices. Enough pork left over for about 3 days' sandwiches. Badgers are out in the garden now tucking in to the leftovers

I do one every other Sunday. Sucks being a chef for a living.

Awwwwwwww I want badgers :hyper:
I try and do my best to do a sunday roast for myself . A lot of the time I just cook the meat and end up eating that caveman style with beer ^_^ Today was a nice ride and as soon as I got home the meat went in the oven . About three hours after it was done I had time to do the veg so a nice roast was had
I think getting the meat cooked is the main problem for most people with little time on their hands . The veg part is easy .

Ever tried a slow cooker?
I sometimes put it on before heading off to work, then come home to an almost ready casserole, stew, etc

Bought one a few months ago . Not a fan of them as they just cook stuff slow , you tend to lose the taste of a home cooked meal .

Pot roast beef today. Yum. I had planned a roast, but when I googled 'how can I keep my roast beef tender?', I found that you can't - it's all about the joint you have, and the one I'd bought, silverside, was not one of the 'good/tender' ones. Very good & very tender after a three hour pot roast tho'.
We do roasts on the barbecue in the summer. A roast dinner is great with fresh spuds, peas, carrots and runner beans from the garden, but I prefer not to use the kitchen for the roast in the sweltering heat.
To be fair I have used the smoker for a shoulder of lamb. Using the rosemary tree was a great idea. Slooooooooow cooked and juicy , the fat collected got put back on top to baste it. Nom norm non, drooling now and it's a fast day !
