Who doesn't have any specific goals for 2013?

My cycling goal for 2013 is to spend less money in bike related stuff than I did last year!
I'm sorry, but I thought all replies had to be realistic !

Never quite understood this obsession with having to do X number of miles in a year
or trying to shave so many seconds off your local loop,Just go out for a ride,
sometimes I'll do a century, sometimes just a quick blast out for an hour
both just as enjoyable in their own way,do I bother how quick it takes me??

No.........couldn't give a monkeys
Throw away your bike computers, gps, strava and just go ride.................... simples.

and throw away all but one of your gears too

No specific goals set, I just want to keep enjoying my cycling.

I've not set any specific goals for 2013, I sort of have a figure in mind that I'd like to think I could do but not really making any attempt to achieve it. If I'm say, a hundred miles out towards the end of the year then I might try to make up that hundred miles, otherwise I'm not really bothered.

Last year I did RRTY an Audax challenge that involves doing a 200km Audax in each month of the year.I was thrilled to achieve it but it certainly put me under stress a few times when other things in life where making it difficult.

This year I am going to enjoy just doing rides I want to do and find interesting instead of working towards a target of any sort.

Well, my idea of not setting goals to avoid tempting fate and (hopefully) make sure nothing bad happens this year has already not turned out how I hoped it might. Mum phoned my mobile while I was out riding this morning to say Dad's been taken into hospital with a heart attack.

2013 plans to continue along the same lines as 2012, then

Sorry for the downer. I just feel like life's been rather hard emotionally these last couple of years.

Hope your Dad is OK and you get better luck for the rest of the year.

I have no mileage goals, just a few upgrades that i'd like to put on the bikes and a few places i'd like to cycle to, but none of these are set in stone and i wont be dissapointed if they dont happen .. i'l just be happy to get out for a ride as and when i can

44 or 48miles IIRC
I've already done more than the average annual mileage then, so thats one achievment for the year ^_^
Not set any specific targets myself, although I would like to get out more than last year & i've managed to get on the bike everyday so far.

I've always held a deep-suspicion of goal-setting, bucket-lists, '100 things to do before you die'...etc, but since taking up cycling I have become a bit of a goal-setter myself! Last year I set a target of 4000 miles, which I eventually managed to hit.

This year I'm hoping for similar mileage, but I'm trying not to take it as seriously, because I had a few unpleasant rides in December where I was going out just to 'get the miles in' which made it a bit of a chore.

Having said that, I do have a goal this year, which is to lose three stone so that I may find it easier to climb hills.
