^ agree. It's only 73 miles anyway. No need for special heavy duty tyres. Carry a spare tube (or two), and learn how to change it. Carry CO2, a mini pump, and glueless patches (just in case!).

I have black rubbers one's, they seem to go round in circles quite well. I do look after them and check the pressure before every ride, not just by pinching it.

I hope that is helpful.

On a road/race bike I would go with the Bonty Hardcases or Durano tyres for commute, for fast weekend riding, Michelin Pro 4 or similar. Also my new purchased bike came with 25mm Durano tyres and they same really good, very comfy and different from the Bonty Hardcases in a 23mm on the fixed.

Has anyone actually read the OP?

One August ride of 100 miles.

Puncture resistance is low down the list.

But mentioned...
So NO to slippy slidey Armadillos that combat punctures by throwing the rider off the bike on the first bit of wet concrete they encounter

Conti Touring Plus do me quite well....seem to hold up for rougher stuff and keeping the fairy away but don't seem as thick as the M+ or similar. Tad heavy though

C'mon, Swiftylee, which tyres did you get? Were you plagued by punctures? I think I have had maybe 2 since your post last June - getting on for 4000 miles - Gatorskins 23mm folding.

I find that punctures come in waves (once had 6 in day) then none for months. Hedge cutting time pretty much guarantees a few punctures and winter seems worse than summer.

Best: Gatorskins are good though not invincible. A Specialized Armadillo was OK until it suffered a massive sidewall failure. Schwalbe Marathons for when you really can't face another damned puncture.
Worst: Vittoria Zaffiro - absolute junk.

I agree that a good track pump and running high pressures greatly cuts down the number of punctures.
