Billie Piper is the next Doctor, we saw that from the regeneration. What we don’t know yet is how long her tenure will be and who the next Doctor will be after her. I suspect she’ll be the Doctor for the first show on it’s return to the small screen but will regenerate again into the new, new Doctor at the end of that.

Who will that be? Probably some relatively obscure woman from a Netflix series or similar. E.g Aimee Lou Wood.

Continuity has never been a particular concern on Doctor Who. He has visited the destruction of Atlantis maybe 3 different times, destroyed for 3 utterly different reasons, and didn't meet himself for any of them. The Cybermen have at least 3 different origin stories too. This is a feature not a fault
