Fat Bikes are fun, guaranteed to put a smile on your face

And the tyres are the easiest to change that I've ever had to do

Buy one and smile

I'd buy a Surly fat bike and add pannier bags .... it would make a stunning shopping bike or a commuter when there's snow .... I've seen these up close in Cambridge and I like them

It's the rim tape.
Isn't the rim tape usually on the inside? Why would you want the tube bulging out through the tape / rim? (I'm sure there's a good reason but it just looks like it compromises the normal protection that the rim offers the tube)

The rims would be very, very, heavy without the holes. Rim tape is usually extra thick & wide (because the rims are extra wide). Given the conditions that people frequently ride these bikes in, it clearly works out OK.

What are those blue things on the inside of the wheels?

these are the Rims (they are called 'Rabbit Hole')

I don't have a clue why the rim has the slots

There's an annual World Champs beach race over in Holland that's a lot of fun.
And Battle on the Beach is every spring down in South Wales
