I think it's a 6 of one half a dozen of the other accident.

The Lamborghini certainly looks to be going a bit fast for the road conditions and the black car didn't look like it was going to stop.

Did you see how the Lamborghini just fell to bits. I wouldn't like to be in that in a "proper" accident.

Certainly the Lambo should've been able to stop, but it shouldn't have been put in the position where it needed to - the car pulling out of the side road had no business 'demanding' that another car slow down to accommodate it. It should only have been where it was when the road it was joining was clear. But having said that, the Lambo driver was clearly not paying attention at best, and is certainly not blameless.

The 'bits falling off' are probably designed to do just that - absorb as much impact as possible in the course of 'taking one for the team', while helping safeguard a massively reinforced central passenger 'capsule'.

The fact is that competent driving entails expecting the possibility of a hazard. Whilst I know that many drivers stand on their right of way as if fighting a life or death contest, that's not a civilised way to behave. Sometimes you have to slow down even when it is your right of way, incredible and unsatisfactory as it may seem to some!

^^^ This, but explain that to the VW driver too!

Hard to judge speed when a car is so loud- but that's part of it... wouldn't like to be the in the VW driver's shoes though.

Matt black finish made it impossible to see?

Also, it's lower than my recumbent and we all know how hard they are to see.

Of course it wasn't staged - you can hear a car like that coming from 100 yards away and when you know it's a supercar, it's tempting to get the camera out in the hope of capturing exactly what happened.

We Just missed witnessing a Bugatti Veyron being towed away in Paris - young driver (footballer? rapper?) parked it on a "Livraisons" spot and strolled into the designer shop opposite, came out after 10 minutes, drove off, 30 seconds later a crappy old Renault did the same, two occupants got out and walked off and a minute later the tow truck arrived; I think they had been tipped off. They towed the Renault and the returning driver's face was a picture. It was worth watching the towing operation for the speed and slickness - what a shame they didn't get the Veyron though or we'd have been on YouTube.

That 'VW' is a Mazda by the way - and yes it pulled out on the Lambo but he was going far too fast for the road conditions just listen at the engine, the engines sound amazing but by the pitch of it he was accelerating just before the Mazda pulled out. If the Lamborghini driver had have been going at a safe speed he would have easily been able to stop with the brake set up on that vehicle and the Matt black finish I dont think made much difference as these cars are huge - you cant really miss them. So I would say theyre both at fault - the mazda driver for driving without due care and attention and the Lambo for driving in excess of the speed limit.
