Who's your favourite TV chef????

Her regional India series was excellent, and the book wasn't bad either. They should give Locatelli a series. His Guardian columns (and the rather overlarge book he produced from them) were superb.

I've got that book. It's a masterpiece. I also find him quite attractive. I'm hoping he stays on the TV margins though, like the also very brilliant Alastair Little. There are enough TV chefs.

I knew the name but could not think why. At 19 years old she was a actress and came to the UK to study drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and is a self taught cook with help from her mother.

Yes the Silver Spoon is extremely useful. Nothing clever or flash in it, just A LOT of accumulated Italian culinary custom. Brilliant for those "what shall I do with this pumpkin/pheasant/celeriac?" moments.

I like Nick Nairn's stuff but when I got the recipe book it takes about 18 hours to get to the start point, Schmeck that! His restaurant was great, to begin with...

I don't like Ramsay but still the best food I've had was served up in Amaryllis before it shut (I mean before it zarking shut you pr1ck yes?).

The best food I have ever had in the UK (apart from the the local Lindisfarne mussels that are now coming into season, cooked simply in white wine, garlic and parsley ) was at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons - my wife and I had lunch there (no way we could afford to stay!) just before we got married. Whatever you think of The Restaurant, he knows what he's doing with his own place.

We went to Le Petit Blanc in Brum when my wife was on placement down south and I ruined it by ordering badly - why order pate when I know I don't like pate? Och.

Thought Nairns restaurant was good although only went once as it was for my birthday and everyone else thought it was just alright. It was the night Beckham got sent off against Argentina in the world cup and Stephen Hendry was at the next table with his wife. The things you remember eh!

Oh and when the bill came my ex pulled a fast one and I ended up paying our eighth of the bill and it was her surprise!!. I thought I was going for a curry. End up there and paying for it. And that is just one of the reasons why she's an ex!

Keith Floyd isn't so much a cook, more a force of nature. A friend of mine once spent about an hour and a half waiting at one of his many doomed restaurants before the man himself boomed through the swing doors declaring: 'Sorry, sorry, sorry everybody, can't cook tonight, far too pissed', then staggered around the room depositing a bottle of very good champagne on each table before disappearing back into the kitchens. A true one-off, and in the best possible way.

As I said - a legend. The Ramsays of this world take themselves a bit too seriously, don't you think?
