I am surprised with the few Top Of The Pops that I have been watching from the late 70's on BBC4 whilst on the turbo trainer that the Barron Knights were always in the charts. I remember thinking that they were shite as a kid, really pleased that they have not been on yet.

I have to admit Billy Idol is one of my guilty pleasures  Was really into his solo stuff in the 80's as a school kid.

I remember travelling from Germany to the meridian centre in Leeds for the punk club at lunchtime on Saturday, drinking beer in park then back to the club in evening. Must admit we were all pretty vacant by closing time. Not sure if it was the music or complete contrast from the discipline in the army but fantastic memories all the same. Happy times
They covered 'How can a poor man stand such times and live' when I saw them. Nothing ever changes, eh?
30 years on and the Tories are playing to type again , raping the poor while lining the pockets of the rich

If you watch the Golden Age of American Rock every new act ends up as the absurd bloated old farts. The old greying punks now look silly but ultimately the excessive prog bands and cabaret pop acts are still going whereas the punks are driving taxis

I think eventually something similar will eventually happen to the music of today not punk but something similar. Music is so far detached from the reality. As for punk being shoot I would never count the clash being shoot.

Yes, they toured incognito as SPOTS to get around local council bans, I caught them in Wolves http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/press_cuttings_wolverhampton.html

It's difficult to articulate what all the fuss was about, not just the Sex Pistols but the cultural, socio-political events of the mid to late 70's, having taken part in many of the movements, demo's etc. it's interesting to reflect. At the same time hard not to turn into a sanctimonious old git (or to admit to it at any rate)

I remember seeing the Stranglers at Kings College in 1978.....looking like this

This group here looks a tad different

It also reminds me of how well I've aged in comparison to some

Funny you should say that, Jet Black told me that he thought you looked ****ed!

I'll also admit to have seen the Bay City Rollers (before they made it), Slik (dj'ed in between their set) Slade (excellent live) but it was all tongue in check and not to be taken serious, LBH Chicory Tip ? best new band for me ..Twin Atlantic
