so a year ago my wife set up get iPhone with the wrong email address. We’re trying to erase everything on her phone and return it to factory settings. I’ve deleted all the apps and she’s created a new Apple ID account. The trouble is every time we try to erase it keeps asking for the old email password we don’t have and can’t retrieve?
What to do? Phone shop??

Try Apple support / Genius Bar at Apple store

Start with a chat on the apple site.

Then make a genius bar appointment. (Edit 2: if needed)

You've paid the apple tax buying an iPhone. Reap the benefits.

Edit: AKA what @vickster - mostly - has said.

I did something similar when first setting up my iPad. Entered my email address accidentally as .com instead of .co.uk.
Threw myself on the mercy of the IT dept at work. Don't know what they did but they weren't very pleased with me!
She did the exact same thing over a year ago and has just carried on regardless. iPhone are supposed to be for simple people but when they cock them up.....
