Will there be a 'Wiggins Effect'?

Is someone going around trying to knock out the entire British cycling team??
french have put contract out... its the only way..

obviously we have to guess on accident.. but the current "vogue" of shoving the car into junction in order to force across, which seems to be getting worse and worse (well afaik ;) ), is more dangerous for cyclists than car drivers.. it's annoying as a driver, but for a cyclist it's life threatening...
as well as the normal "smidsy" 'fun'

I haven't seen the pressyet, but at lunchtime someone was quoting thatthe driver had said something of the lines "I didn'trecognise who he was"

So the effect (if this is the case) is that only us plebs will be knocked over and the famous will be avoided?

The report says Shane Sutton has been diagnosed with bleeding on the brain, and that he was wearing a helmet. Was the polystyrene hat doing its job because it prevented more serious injury, or is it pointless because he has still suffered a fairly serious injury?

Without wanting to start a full on debate about it surely that question can't be answered without seeing the helmet, knowing if it had been compromised in anyway previously and also the details of the collision.

Wiggins effect will last about 3 minutes. Actually I think I managed to benefit from it today. I took the morning off and went out on my bike, as it was one of the best days for a while.

On a cyclepath which merges into a residential street. Driver in an Audi heading out of his drive on my left looking left. Very unlikely to be a car from the right as he is at the end of the road. He takes a quick glance to the right, clocks me and keeps going. He gets about 3 feet when he brakes and lets me through. In my head I heard him say to himself "Bradley Wiggins."

Not a single stupidly close pass this morning, and general good manners from most. Maybe it was a coincidence, but you never know.

Anyhow, thanks Bradley

By the way - not sure why Wiggins felt the need to swear as he left the hospital yesterday - went down in my estimations.

It might depend on how much hassle the press had been giving him/his family while he was in hospital. I can see situations where anyone might be tempted to do that - but it's a given that it will be that pic that makes it into the press/onto the internet!

Yeh - and I don't like the media for the way they behave.

But I know from personal experience that Wiggins can be quite rude in public - refusing to have photos taken etc. I'm sure he loved the adulation at the road race, so to be so disrespectful is not necessary in my opinion.

No Bradley effect. That ruddy squirrel wasn't watching the news today. Very nearly mashed one on the TPT, must have missed him by less than a whisker as it lept out infront of my speeding MTB.
