Trouble with technology is that it assumes some logical behaviour in the drivers!
I remember early trials with a system that maintained safe distances between vehicles, and it was absolutely fantastic. Read the car's speed and altered it to suit the distance.
First time om the road though, someone crossed through the gap cutting the vehicle up and the computer reckoned that the speed should be halved, almost caused a crash.
The system failed because it could not cope with such stupid and erratic driving.
What is really needed is to use this type of technology to record the driver's activities and alert the Police!
