winter bike

I am looking at getting a second bike for winter use.

i have a limited budget so am looking second hand around £300. My main bike is a Spesh Sectuer Elite.

so far looking at Spesh Allez or Trek 1.1/1.2. - Can these take full mudguards? if not can anyone suggest some bikes that can?

the bikes i have been looking in that price range at usually come with 2300/sora- i am not overly bothered about the groupset as i would probably look to upgrade over time. Suppose a good frame is the main thing.

Alternatively are Crud Road Racers 2 or raceblades any good?

Second hand Ribble Winter Trainer - good bits of kit.

My mate has a Ribble Winter Trainer- its a great bike. If i had the cash i would happily buy a new one. I haven't seen any second hand ones- i usually look on ebay, gumtree, preloved and my local classifieds. If i could find one (xxl frame) within my budget second hand that would be ideal.
