Obscure sports to most Brits with varying impenetrable rules and few parochial medal challengers.
Anybody interested?
I notice that there were only about 12 people watching the mens' ski jump.

I watched the ski jump, probably as I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself and nursing a cold.

Truth is I'll watch just about any sport, even ones I don't really get.

I like the winter Olympics. I've not seen anything of this years' so far except about 10 minutes on a highlights show, but...

I like watching the bobsleigh, biathlon and ice hockey. I'm not too fussed about the newer trendy stuff (snowboarding - lots of twiddling in the air, whilst skilful, is a bit dull to me).

Scenery is often nice too. I think I got into the WO when I saw them on the telly from Lillehammer a few years ago.

Me too but I do idly watch some of the Eurosport coverage of winter sports anyway. I'm no expert but I like the ski jumping, biathlon, downhill skiing.
I'm not a fan of figure skating or snowboarding, apart from the mano a mano events.

Think it might have been the same for me but it must have been the first time from Lillehammer. To put it in context, it was on grandstand inbetween Giant Haystacks and BMX racing.

Watched a bit earlier and it just seemed to be British people falling over. Got the moguls on iPlayer now.

Unified Korean ice hockey team was good to see but they didn't do so well...

I do remember as a boy watching Torvil and Dean, which I hated but understood even at a young age I was watching history. Don't think I've watched it since Robin Cousins.

Have you seen the Korean cheerleaders all dressed in red suits?
Yeah, they looked... organised. I was a bit concerned for the one I saw drop her flag.

I'm generally not keen on sports that involve subjective marking which is another argument for another time I think.
The fact that ski jumping is one of them irritates me slightly...
... but that's not all that difficult.

Your probably right, although I don't pretend to understand the nuances of either sport.

Another esoteric thing is the difference between ice skating pairs and ice dancing. I believe that in the latter you have to remain close enough together to hold hands and snog but I may be doing it an injustice.

:laugh:No, probably about covers it.

Sliding down an ice tube on a tea tray is suitably mental. All the slope style stuff is suitably rad, trying to thread your way through a bunch of sticks in order, at speed is too hard to follow and the inevitability of thingy Christie crashing and being disqualified, inevitable. I like watching Amy Williams though.
