Winter rides

Anyone else looking forward to those frosty Winter rides? I am going to try and improve my photography skills this year on the journeys.

Kind of looking forward but the main photography would be my bike camera as my hands suffer badly from the cold.
What I do look forward to is actually being able to get out without the roads being clogged with tourists. Time will tell on that front tho' as the infestation could continue with motorhomes parked in all sorts of places as the sites will be closed. The holiday homes will probably try to encourage more winter tourists also.

I love winter riding. The cold can cause issues with my sinuses unfortunately but there's nothing like riding in crisp frosty weather.

I doubt I'll be doing much photography, since my weekday winter riding is almost all after dark. But I will keep going out, and I do look forward to getting out on a crisp clear day at weekends.

If they do I can hear those appeals "no need to panic buy food and toilet paper" and can see mobs of morons stocking up on anything and everything...

Unfortunately I doubt we'll have the snow we received last winter, but I can but hope. I ride off-road in the forest, so winter can be a wonderful time to see it in a different light.

I went on a ride last Christmas, set off just before seven, clear skies, frosted ground, fiercely cold.

It was a beautiful b*stard of a bike ride.

Very true.

I'll never forget the first time I hit it. Just cycling along, a straight road in the middle of Taffs Well, and suddenly my front wheel just twisted out from under me and I hit the floor. I thought something had broken on the bike until I tried to stand up, and found my feet sliding around on it. You just cannot see the difference between a damp road and black ice.

4.44 ° is my cutoff. So sez my nose, toes & eyes. Okay, everyone, open season to brag about how long you ride in what ultra frigid temps!
