Yes, that's pretty well it. I've never bought any, but people I know who have were generally disappointed.

I got some noise cancelling headphones for meditation and other things. The noise cancelling bit and being able to be compact for travel were important factors to me. Stuff that came up again and again was Bose, Bose, Bose, Sennheiser. I was lending them to use recently and they went nuts about them and wanted to buy some, I found out to my horror on looking online that the Philips Fidelio NC1 have gone up in price 50-60 odd quid since I bought them and so are now well outside this bracket, one of the reasons for not posting on the thread! Did seem to be a lot of praise/disappointment on Bose on reviews.
