I've been using a Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave for about 18 months at home, like it so much I got one for the office when I got a new job. The wave shape isn't perfect for everyone but the batteries last about 6 months, it's accurate, very easy to set up, the mouse has enough buttons for basic gaming and it has enough additional app keys to make life simpler without becoming more complicated.

The receiver is quite large, I also have a Logitech Nano with the coolest / smallest receiver and I prefer that sort of size as it's less likely to be snapped when sticking out of the USB port. It does come with a USB cable extender, though, so you can place the receiver optimally.

Didn't know people still used the USB-style receivers - my Logitech mouse, and keyboard, just use Bluetooth. You live and learn.

Tightwad employers, my laptop doesn't have BT built in either.

Anyway, in the context of MrP's request, tell us about you oh-so-sparkly Bluetooth set up, then.

It's not that sparkly actually, to be honest! Got the Logitech mouse years ago, doubt I could even tell you the model number now. Keyboard is one of the old-style white-and-clear Apple keyboards (Swedish layout), which is nice to type on and easy to clean. Do 'Das Keyboard' do a wireless version, I wonder?

Not to sure?
Stick to having a cable connected. Worse thing I ever bought was a cordless mouse, dam batteries always seem to go flat in the middle of the night half way through some work.

Consequently its now sat in my draw, never to see the light of day again.

Sounds interesting. Which one was it?

Probably this one at a guess, I don't think Amazon sell it anymore though, but should have something similar.

I have the same one for the media center, except it has a track stick in place of the ball. It works fine for the media tv, but I wouldn't be keen on using it as a working keyboard/mouse.

In general, anything branded with Logitech or Microsoft is of good quality - ebay gets the best price - the high st shops have a huge mark up on these things eg I have a Microsoft sidewinder gamer keyboard, about £40 on ebay and saw one in hmv for £70.

I prefer the rf receivers to bluetooth or IR. Bluetooth you have to faff around setting up, but with rf it just emulates a keyboard and mouse from the usb dongle. Ok BT give security, depends if you think that's an issue.

It might be this one, it was certainly like it. I'm not saying it's a particularly good one but the idea of the tracker ball seem ideal for a cordless keyboard. You can use it on your lap.
