Wise sayings from your old Dad

One of my dad's favourite sayings is " You can't put an old head on young shoulders". I find myself saying that to my two lads, even though they're in their 20's. I've turned into my dad.

Sad fact of life: you are doomed to repeat your parents' phrases to others, particularly people younger than yourself. When I was over visiting my sister, I found myself saying to one of her then teenage sons: "you don't know the day you were born....".

I'll get my hat, and make myself comfortable in my Shackleton's high chair (the original high seat chair, so easy to get in and out of. It's lovely).

I do my own stunts
"Don't cycle on busy roads."
"You must wear a helmet."

Of course as a teen I totally ignored any parental advice and still cycle wherever I want to without any helmet-induced fear.
