Cycled yesterday, fixed road bike . It was cold but OK. This morning there was a bit of snow on the ground and its was still coming down. Toyed with the idea of the mountain bike but decided to drive. Roads are now totally gridlocked. Wish I had brought the bike !

I went for it this morning, about an inch maybe two fell during the night. Got the mtb out side streets were a bit iffy, but the main roads where clear just got splashed a bit on the face with dirty sludge! Left a bit earlier but did it in usual time. It's the return journey that concerns me more, if it freezes ill be walking the side streets!

I also wished I had cycled to work this morning but I have a chest cold, so had no real choice but to take the car.
Although I had a short spin around the block just to try out the Marathon Winters in light snow combined with ice for the first time, they did a great job.

I bussed it and I'm glad I did. The snow has thickened considerably during the afternoon and I'm glad not to be cycling home in the dark and in snow.

... or cleaning the crud off the bike when I get home before the salt ruins the components either!

I cycled because I had to as my car has a dead fuel pump! Side streets were very slippy but roads even in the countryside were just wet. Just the return journey to make, I leave in 15 mins!

I cycled in this morning. Slight dusting of snow which had started to freeze when I left.

Was a very tense ride in the easiest possible gear. I even kept my left foot unclipped just in case.

Dreading going home because I bet any water on the roads will have started to freeze again by 8pm.

Snow forecast again tonight so it might be the bus tomorrow !

I made it in this morning ok, side roads were frozen ice, but the main roads were ok. I walked it off the estate, but once I was on I stayed on, just tried not to brake, steady smooth peddling, and easy on the steering. I was worried about the subways as there were some steep climbs with compacted snow, but the mtb went up fine. Surprised myself.

Drove today but yesterday was a big adventure. Had to take the car to the garage once the school run was finished so roof rack on the night before then got up early to put bike on rack only to find thick snow. Still did it though and delivered car to VW in Gee Cross then rode home to Ashton-under-Lyne the scenic route via Romiley, Marple Bridge, Charlesworth and Mottram. Got showered and changed then biked back to Gee Cross (the direct route this time!) to collect the car and then dash of to school for the kids, all in all did 19 miles on my Hybrid on Schwalbe road tyres with no problems.

Really must pull my finger out and get the knobblies back on my MTB as it would have been more suitable.

I've got no interest in getting in the car due to the fact that I'd probably end up getting held up in traffic in the 3.5 miles between work and my house! The MTB is fine, I've got cyclocross tyres on mine and it's coping perfectly well with the conditions up in Scotland.

I've found it harder than the snow/ice last winter. On the way home last night, while slipping all over the place, I did think about not cycling in the morning, I think being clipped in and using the cyclocross bike on ice has taken getting used to.

Decided to carry on cycling this morning though and it wasn't too bad (apart from rutted ice guiding me into a bush at one point!)

I've got spd's with the clip in flat platform on one side, I've been riding with my left foot unclipped incase I need to put my foot down for stability.

I put my commuting bike away for the winter last week, but thanks to the car being snowed in i've had no choice but to ride into work.

I'm really glad I have rode in though because I've absolutely LOVED it!

Commuting fine on a road bike with skinny tyres and fully clipped in. But there again, I've adjusted my commute so it is now only on major or very major roads.

Hope there is no snow falling when I'm going home, though.
