Well good news on saving the bike then, you get an old friend back. Nice choice of new bike as well, looks nice and a decent spec. Take it easy Joe.

Always think it's good to have a fleet of bikes.I have two but when I stop going on holiday I want a third.Unfortunately I want to go on holiday next month so my two bikes are going to have to cope.

Nice bike there.....go round and d-lock the driver..there.

The LBS will probably jig the old bike and cold set it. I assume it's steel, as I had a 531 Raleigh's stay cold set by my frame builder after a car drove into me.

As for the motorist who hit me? I don't know. I guess I could pursue him in Small Claims Court, but, I'm not sure I want to go through the added stress, months of aggravation, and end up with very little restitution, in the end.

I suppose there's always the thought that it might also cause him a bit of aggro along the way?

Anyway,glad you're ok and now have n+1 bikes.....

Actually, my old bike was aluminium. Don't know how much bending you can do on those. Even if it were steel, most bike shops over here got rid of their frame racks long ago. In the old days, when frames were brazed, a frame rack was a basic bike shop tool. Most new bikes had to be put on the rack and checked or straightened after shipping. Nowadays, with TIG welding methods, the frames come from the factories much straighter. That, plus the number of aluminium and carbon frames sold, most bike shops no longer have frame racks. A friend of mind had one straightened a few years ago, but he had to strip it down to the bare frame and ship it halfway across the country to get it done.
