I've just taken delivery of a new Triban3 for my son which is his first road bike.

He knows no fear and if his riding on this is anything like the way he throws his mountain bike down a trail I am in for a nerve jangling first ride with him tomorrow.

Have fun ... mine crashed his into a van at 25mph downhill a few months after he got his road bike.

Now he's training with a local club and racing after paying half the cost of a replacement.

Triban 3 is a fine piece of kit. It will take some punishment, but still be a capable bike.

Former Triban 3 owner and former youngster with a road bike, I can confirm they stand up to a lot. I lost control of mine coming down a slippy downhill, fairly low speed, and hit a tree. Triban was fine apart from the cheap front wheel, but that was to be expected. I came off worse. Road bikes are much stronger than most people think.
