Congrats, Tollers.

Did I mention the increased risk of skin cancer? And lung damage from smog (no, that's LA). And collisions with erratically driven trams. Or things crawling out of the fog at night...

Has anyone mentioned the dueness of a Big One on the San Andreas?

Anyway, good luck with the move.

When I was in Mexico City a few years back, we saw that in cafes and public places there were signs showing what to do in the event of fire, like you get here, with little pictures, and underneath was another set for in the case of 'seismos' which defeated us a bit, until we twigged it was earthquake....

That was what made it seem really exotic, that and the rubber plant trees lining the street!

Panic over. They've seen the error of their ways so 3 days has changed to 30. That's a hell of a relief

You will have to sit through my boring talk on citrus welfare then

Orange tree burst into flower again this week
Good to hear they've pulled their fingers out.

I will do my best with the citrus- talk me through it as they seem like happy plants.

Bugger...shipping company just contacted me and informed me

" - No food/wine or liquor can be in your shipment"

Bugger!!!! Ah well. I have 14 spare spaces in my wine fridge at my folks place to lay some down and will just have to drink the other 40 bottles before 26th March!

OK. So the shipping company told me a while back that my budget doesn't extend to sending my bikes by air. The other two can go by sea.

So.....i'm going to take one with me as my checked baggage. I bought a Polaris bike pod (huge) this weekend to give it a bit of protection, but which bike should i take?

Annalisa, my beautiful Scott. Very expensive and precious. or,
Tiziana, my Ribble workhorse, but a lovely bike and my main bike

I'll only have one of them for about my first 8 weeks in california, but this is a tough choice. Logic and practicality says Tiziana, but i'd be worrying about Annalisa's long sea voyage.

What would you choose?

Take Annalisa Scott bike Tollers you know it makes sense. Not favouritism mind you just you know the more comfy bike and well more to repair/replace if things go wrong (well law of averages means this is unlikely, but you know, for those just in case moments..)

Everything going smoothly? I hope so!

PS not had confirmed times re car availability yet for the trees..sorry about this out of my hands
