Wooden bike

About once a year stories appear in the press about bicycles made out of weird and wonderful materials going into production. This one actually has. It's made out of wood and available by mail order in the UK. Unfortunately you can't actually ride it here because it's just got a single coaster-brake. A 17kg single-speed wouldn't be suitable for UK roads anyway, not unless you just do short trips in Norfolk.

This one is over 3,000.00 US. I cannot see the sense in it, when I can get a DeRosa for that.

Al though I believe Auto Union got out of this about a year later.

I notice they didn't go so far as making the seat tube wooden. Actually, perhaps the rest of the frame is just cunningly-disguised metal? Seriously, though: at that price, they should have supplied tree for the price of one.
