Reminds me of my grandfather - a green grocer in Covent Garden when it was still a market.

I'm fond of "geezer" myself.

Tickety-Boo is a word/phrase that we use often at work, but I don't hear it used outside of our depot.

I showed this thread to my son.
His reaction was "Christ! Some of it's like Jeremy Clarkson and Giles Brandreth had a horrible love-child of opinion".

He may choose to think that, but I couldn't possibly comment

"Please" and "thank you" are in my opinion overused in the English language to the point that they have lost their meaning. You can't say "yes" without following up with a "please" or "no" without following up with a "thank you". You don't realise just how insincere their use is in the English language are until you become fluent in a foreign language.
"Sorry" is worse (in my foreign opinion )
Why do I have to continuously apologize, in my working life, about stuff that is so outside my control or my decision making powers that I may as well apologize for the permanent rainfall? :surrender:
