I have honestly never tried it... a few of the teckie geeks guys at the office play it and are always talking WOW code.

I am hooked enough on playing Call of Duty 4/5 online, I couldn't handle something more addictive.

I have several mates that play it.....some even got really addicted to the point where they really wanted to stop it, but couldn't.

I wouldn't say some of these games are like heroin....I would say they can be FAR worse.

I read somewhere that the average time a player spends on wow a day is nearly 6 hours.... of course some people will rarely play and some will play ALL the time.....some of my friends played reguarly around 14 hours a day when not forced to go to school/college. This would bring about SERIOUS health risks...obesity...damage to education... eyesight damage, back damage, rubbish social skills. It can also promote people to be absolute twats when they are forced to be peeled away from the screen.

I would seriously recommend quitting these games completely.... and if you need to satisfy gaming addictions play an online shooter or something....then weed your way off that. Upon quitting the game people I have known have had a vastly increased quality of life.

And I did play wow for a few weeks (like 3)....in the run up to my GCSEs actually... upon realising that the game would never end and addiction would become obsesion... I quit.

....and I underperformed in my GCSEs....

I tried the 10 day free trial of WoW, but couldn't get into it, I prefer racing games and simulators.

There is a guy at work who plays Killzone and Call of Duty for hours every day, and recently I worked out why. In the real world he was born on a council estate, has no qualifications (in prison for a while too), and now has a job with no prospects, no house and no car - in effect he is a nobody. However in these online war games he holds senior ranks, runs his own clans and has people wanting to play with him. So in the virtual world he has status, respect and a social network - in effect he is somebody.
Which world do you think he prefers to inhabit?

Dead end job and he works with you?

It is very attractive for 'certain types' I will admit, however many closet geeks just enjoy the gaming side... I like to compete at anything and with 2 kids doing loads of activities is unrealistic so competing online in the evening is a good escape. I play on the PS3 so doesnt quite have the organisation and clan societies as with many PC games but great all the same.

I played Everquest 2 for abit, got boring though so I stick to my driving games.

I played Warcrack (far more addictive than Heroin) for about two years on & off.

Haven't played for sometime as I prefer the CoD series.

A lot of my mates still play WoW but I reached a point when I needed to play for at least 2 hours to achieve something; the quests were getting longer & more tedious.

I think it's £8 for WoW, some are like £11 though I think.

I paid £75 for about 3 months of EQ2, I don't like to think about it though, I hardly played it and then remembered I threw 75 quid away
