Maybe I should pay more attention next time and ask mechanics which sprocket is wearing down
Perhaps look into the miche primato route next time
Seems such a waste nowadays to bin the whole cassette..costs ailability.. environmental impact etc
I only once attempted with no luck at all to sell a hardly used Durace 11/28 which I still have it came with bike but to fast for me ..so it was swapped out for a 11 30 ...I guess the reason it never sold was that people not believe it was hardly used
But then again its pointed out that similar things are daft money in used market
Regarding tbe sprocket tool checker?
Do the shop mechanics regular use these or they just go by the "sound" or feel when they take the bike for a run out

As LWaB says. The sprockets which wear will normally (1x will vary with chainring tooth count and use) are those getting the most use (time x force x dirt)(mode and runner up): these are the 15/17t range.

For how a chain wears sprockets, see [edit] @Yellow Saddle's Cyclechat thread.

Btw buying a 'spare' cassette of someone is a mug's game. If they used it themselves, how do you know they're are telling the truth and if they haven't they don't know it's "scarcely worn". And you'll have no comeback if the chain starts slipping x00km down the road. You cannot tell by eye the state of wear of a cassette during its useful life.
I'm running a 53T/39T chainring, so the 17,19,21 get the most wear.

Noticed the 19T needed changing recently as the gear sounded 'rough' on the turbo, not noticeable on the road. Must also replace the 17T.

I do have spares for this cassette though, but have been looking for 13 x 26 cassettes on ebay. Might just check who has stock of Miche Primato sprockets.

The "mechanics" won't be able to tell you. Ask away though.
Doubt it. @LWaB was just answering your question: not suggesting the tool had merit.
To check if a chain& cassette combo is compatible, take the bike onto a hill (not steep) and pedal with increasing force systematically each sprocket in turn. If it skates, put the old chain back on. If that skates, replace both.
Running 11sp (or even 12sp  ) has consequences; but the extra gear ratios make it all worth it ;).

I try again
It's been on gumtree on off for around last 7ish years with no luck
Maybe as a good advisor earlier says that used cassettes a mugs game ?
Or as its durace I assume the riders that afford that series will never take a risk in that area
What you think is a reasonable asking price

I'd put it on eBay as it may be a bit specialist for Gumtree buyers who are looking for different stuff generally and local.

Never sell a friend a used cassette, however 'little used' it is. Why can't you use sprockets from this cassette (separated) to replace the ones you don't know are worn on the cassette you mention in the OP? Isn't that what you are thinking about? This 'little used' DA cassette is a 10sp but the sprockets are, in practical terms, the same thickness (1.6mm) as an 11sp one.
I have a 11/41 cassette that was replaced
While we're on this, please share a link to this 11-41t cassette. I could not find one.

It's a 42 ...which I knew but I never checked my text before I sent so apologies on that

I guess there's no reason to not use a 10 speed rd durace sprocket on a 11 speed mtb now you point it out as doable so thanks for that
Maybe I was thinking they were a different thickness from 10-11 speed as is a chain ?

Probly contradicting myself as if i use a sprocket or 2 from the rd cassete on the partly worn mtb one to save waste on the mtb cassette ....this results in waste on the rd cassette which has no worn sprocket ?
I was mostly thinking pairing up two partly worn cassettes stripped down where possible and made as one "used" cassette
Anything to help reduce waste
I'd offer any mates or friends of mates there money back if there not happy
I would not want the bad press for me or me mates ...just not worth it

aiui you have never ridden the 'little used' road cassette (let alone tested it with a new chain): you replaced it before first use. So how do you know it hasn't got a worn sprocket?
As far as the MTB casssette is concerned, you need to refit it and with a reasonably new chain test each sprocket (see protocol above, on road, sitting) which will/may disclose on which sprockets the chain skates.

No no ...the rd cassette is as said HARDLY used
It came with bike but I thought a 28 was to fast for me ...the shop mentioned that a 30 cassette could go on
I had been on mtb for about 15yrs so unsure of the 28 .....so I bought the bike ..tried it out on the hills etc for maybe a month max then swapped it for a more user friendly 30
Hence the hardly used description

I'm not sure why you ask if the rd cassete was tested with new chain etc I'm not understanding that sorry

Rd cassete was hardly used with supplied chain from new then swapped out ...surely there will be nothing worn on that in such a short time ?

Conclusion
I have a 11/42 mtb cassette with a worn sprocket or two ( I will find out which ones by following advice on here ) ...I will keep this to one side
My mates ride similar set up.....
When there cassette has sprocket that are worn I will trade them parts of mine if possible
When the cassette I have on wears sprockets out I may then have a spare sprocket from my previous cassette or my mates cassettes

I can keep the rd cassete and will use the sprockets as was kindly pointed out by alex
There's also a cyclocross bike so I guess I can use the spare durace sprockets on that as well
If all compatible regarding meshing in etc

Once the whole cassette needs replaced I will look at miche as mentioned earlier

Cassettes are going for silly money on ebay - just look for a price - gumtree isn't the best place for parts.

Edit £50 to £60 upwards used.
