As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have been using my subway off and on as a main then nasty weather commuter for 2 years and i have managed to wear my 1st tyre out.

I have been using city jets and the front one is still in very good condition but thte back one was looking worn and i was getting regular punctures so i checked it and it was very thin, i do have a rack and 2 panniers of stuff so you can easily see why it wore out faster.
After putting the original tyres back on i realized how cr*p they are as its a lot harder work.

I replaced my first worn out tyre recently ... so it must have been about 2.5 years old and it had done 6000 miles with loaded panniers (well usually one).

I guess the back tyre on my Velocity will need replacing soon, its 8000 miles old (over 3 1/2 years old); its sees all weathers and carries a pannier load or two. I've been saying I'll replace it when I get multiple p'tures but touch wood, I haven't had one since I started saying that, mind you I can't recall one before that (I know I did definitely get one on the front tyre about 7900 miles ago). The front still looks like new though. On my road bikes however I usually only get 3000-3500 miles out of a rear tyre.

6 months being lucky is right, some go to a slash in the sidewall or a flat spot from an emergency stop in the dry

the lucky ones wear right through to the carcass
