Worst Film Remake

Peter Jackson's King Kong. It's like 10 hours long and quite soulless.

That film's waaay too long I remember my backside going numb at the cinema.

Any Hollywood remake of a non-USA film is pretty pointless, and just shows how Hollywood literally "lost the plot" a long time ago.

Good rule in general, but much as I liked City on Fire, Reservoir Dogs is better.

(for some reason Tarantino pretended it wasn't a remake, even though it had the same plot and the Mexican standoff at the end. The inverted story telling was all his own)

Hmm, I thought it was ok - particularly Jackie Chan.

I never saw it, but why didn't they make it "The Kung Fu Kid"? Seems logical, with Jackie Chan and all.

Methinks Judge Dredd has the prior art claim, somehow.

The recent Dredd movie took a police action movie, and replaced the police with judges. There were no Judge Dredd elements in The Raid.

Isn't the "re-make" a totally unrelated film using nothing more than the title.
I seem to remember it indeed being rather poor, what I saw of it anyway, but still not really a re-make

The title and the minis and the gold... and that's it. I enjoyed it the first time round as a half decent heist movie, less so the 2nd time. Doubt I'll ever give it a 3rd viewing.

As I recall, some fool tried to remake Casablanca as a TV series (staring if memory serves David "Don't give up on us baby" Soul) That was truely awful

I've always wanted to remake Casablanca, but set in north Lancashire and slightly retitled as Casablancaster

Come on, have you read Block Mania? Or played the board game?

I know there are similarities with other things, but I'm fairly sure Dredd was one of the earliest to do the tower block riot thing. Block War was a huge characteristic of the Dredd universe!

I just wished it had broken out in Deptford in the nineties...

I might have put Godzilla forward, but the original (for all its significance) is completely unwatchable.

I submit "Lost in Space" '98.

It's bland. It hints that they could have bought a script and a plot, but sank the money into Matt LeBlanc instead.

It's just...devoid of significance.

I enjoyed the '98 but I was drunk at the time. Later viewing - it is a pretty dire romance, isn't it eh? The monster is cool, and the music (I bought the soundtrack), but the rest is schlock.
