given the title is "worst remake" I think you're being a little harsh to "lost in space". I recall the original tv series being pretty ropey, even as an undemanding 8 year old who happily hoovered up any and all sci fi of the day such as the various Irwin Allen series like time tunnel, and the submarine one, various 50s movies and so on.

It would be quite a claim to say the movie was worse than the tv series

Fair comment.

I just think it was vapid. All the other movies you see in "worst" lists actually have significant redeeming elements - they're usually there because of poor box office takings.

Apologies if you are being sarcastic, but if not

Oddly, I think I've seen most of that, but as clips and excerpts (I'd not seen the part with Radley Balko, but coincidentally, do have his book on my "to read" pile). I was being a little bit sarcastic, trying to make the point that much of the future of the original Robocop has either become reality, or seems very much closer than it did when I was watching the original on VHS.

As such, I rather thought it would benefit from a remake, with new things to say about the original's themes, and about the issues arising from the use of drones.

There are pretty convincing signs that a Hellraiser remake is on the cards. I hope it's good (like Mad Max: Fury Road) but I fear the worst.

The English remake of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was also pointless.

Got to say I was fairly non-plussed by the new Mad Max - it was alright as an action film, but that was about it. I was expecting so much more from the reviews.

Happy New Year. A crushingly horrible dismemberment of La Bonne Annee.

To vary it slightly - how about the remakes we'd like to see.......?.

'Ran' directed by Sacha Baron Cohen starring Liam Neeson
'Coonskin' directed by James Ivory starring Helena Bohnam Carter and Ralph Fiennes (both in blackface)
'The Chess Players' directed by Vin Diesel, starring Vin Diesel and CGI'd Paul Walker

I've just watched the trailer to the new Ghostbusters film, that looks bloody awful.
Yeah looks pretty ropey, it is a sequel though and not a remake.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but I nominate Clash of the Titans, the original was a classic!

Conan the Barbarian was another one that didnt need a remake.

Least necessary: The Amazing Spider Man, 10 years after the perfectly serviceable (and quite fun) Spider Man directed by Sam Raimi*

*who one day will make the perfect movie.
I disagree... Spiderman's a great superhero but all the films are sh!te... Sam Raimi's effort only succeeded in being worse than that old TV movie.
