Worst Film Remake

I disagree... Spiderman's a great superhero but all the films are sh!te... Sam Raimi's effort only succeeded in being worse than that old TV movie.

I've always been a big fan of Raimi, just for the Evil Dead trilogy, just superb original film making and awesome camera work of the first film on a meagre budget. Then the great slapstick humour, of Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness. I also really like Darkman, probably the only comic book superhero (anti-superhero) film I like. I was expecting great things when he made the first Spiderman film, I agree that it was shite. I don't know if he made anymore, but I don't want to watch them anyway.

He just sold out, just like Peter Jackson did, to make dull Hollywood films for $$

I like the first two Spidermen, personally. "A Simple Plan" is a terrific, underseen Raimi film.

To vary it slightly - how about the remakes we'd like to see.......?.

'Ran' directed by Sacha Baron Cohen starring Liam Neeson
'Coonskin' directed by James Ivory starring Helena Bohnam Carter and Ralph Fiennes (both in blackface)
'The Chess Players' directed by Vin Diesel, starring Vin Diesel and CGI'd Paul Walker

Are we subject to the usual rules of time and people being alive? No? Excellent.

'Gregory's Girl' with Tippi Hedrun in place of Dee Hepburn. Not sure who will direct it though.

The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water... Pretty much any remake of Asian films. They have completely the wrong aesthetic.

Maybe you saw it under the title of the short story it was based on, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale"? I love that title, I wished they used it.

While King Kong is a bad film, I'm a fan of Jackson. I liked his LotR, Heavenly Creatures is wonderful, hell, I even liked The Frighteners.

No time to read the whole thread, sorry.

For me, Days of thunder is a rotten remake of top gun.

But to spin that around, heat is a remarkable remake of LA takedown (same director) as is silence of the lambs a good remake of manhunter...i think they may all be Micheal Mann films.
