Picked a rusty raleigh frame up today, serial number on the left drop out is 6 digits 8513**, also has 73 on the seat lug. as oval cross bar and bottom bar.. few bits still on it weinmann brake levers, silstar crank and ITM special on the handle bars.. question is, would it be worth keeping and doing up.

I'd strip it down and clean it up first to see how deep the corrosion goes. If it's just surface corrosion it would make a good winter project

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Before cleaning check that the seat post and handlebar stem are not seized
But if they are, remember that it may still be possible to shift them (plusgas, heating, cutting, ...), but equally you may break the frame or forks.

Other than that, it probably depends how much you paid for it and how much similar bikes sell for or how much you like the idea of riding it.

Not a high end model but as biggsy says if you can’t shift the stem and seat post it might not be worth it, but looks like it may be OK. Only you can decide.

At a cost of £5 I think it deserves a go....

Trying to think of a Raleigh with that design, particularly the plate to hold the rear brake rather than a proper brake bridge..

Be nice if I could find out what model it was.... Narrowed it down between 1969-73 by the serial number... (the 73 on the seat lug is my guess at 1973)
I just took it when i picked up a shopper, as it looked unusal with the oval frame, plus if the weinmann are original to the bike, it must of been a decent looking bike in its day?

Reminds me of the Raleigh Europa frames. Then again same frame used on various bikes like BSA, Raleigh.
