Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Unfortunately, I would stop and do something, much to Mr WD's anger. I don't know what would be worse, getting myself punched in the face or having to put up with the wrath of Mr WD.

I know I should just observe, but that would be to easy, wouldn't it?

one would have to decide on the spot whether or not to intervene... in a hypothetical situation i cannot answer.

WD, it may be the easiest thing to do, Sometimes, it is also the best. Calling the police and observing, recording, and reporting is the best thing you can do.

I know it's the best thing to do GA, however I don't know if I would be able to just stand by if I saw someone being hurt.

I think I speak for this whole forum when I say we do not want to see you get hurt either. I know martial arts, but the only time it would have helped me in this situation, the other guy had a knife. I do not think that anyone wants to see others get hurt, but sometimes the best way to help out in this situation is to provide valid information that leads to prosecution.

years ago, my son and his friends were sitting on our front garden wall (they were about 16 years old) when a car pulled up and some bigger lads got out and set about one of my sons friends' i flew out with a rolled up newspaper and set about the bigger lads, who jumped back into car and drove off !! turns out friend had gone out with one of their girlfriends and they were supposed to be the local 'hard boys' I'm still known as 'gansta mum' !!!

Camera has always been my best weapon in civil disturbances and neighborhood altercations. Oh, and I moved to a nicer neighborhood.

What an incredible post.
Shall we dissect it in great detail or can you just agree you overgeneralised and oversimplified a little there!!
Oversimplified for effect. However it is common enough, something of which I don't get. Your either happy about it or not. You don't then when someone stops it attack that person. Its much like Stockholm syndrome although I'm sure it has its own name. It is still an illogical reaction.

I had the same happen in London in 1982
