Would you ride to my meeting?

I have a meeting later tonight - it's reasonably formal, but not exactly the Mansion House.

It's only 2.25 miles away, but it's also, according to bike hike, 438ft of climbing - making it c.195ft/mile. As it is a tad warm here, and I am not exactly at the peak of physical fitness, I will probably arrive quite hot and sweaty, and then have to sit in close proximity to strangers in (probably) a stuffy room for two hours. I'm almost certain that means that I will go in the car, which pains me from an environmental perspective, but, you know, climate control.

I just wondered how many of you lot would ride it, and if you'd go for the 'get there early, get changed and cool down' approach, or the 'I'll just stew in my own sweat' approach. Or maybe you're so fit that you'd not even get slightly warm? (Incidentally I can't get there early because of work)

No shame in getting off and walking

I don't really have time to walk - according to google maps it's an 11 minute drive in current traffic, or a 14 minute bike ride (it's a shorter route than driving)or a 46 minute walk. I have about 20 minutes between finishing work and having to be there.

Impossible to say - too many if's and but's and I'm not you, but I don't think your ride would leave me smelly if I started out sweet. I often cycle to evening meetings but wouldn't be comfortable imposing on the noses of others. It largely depends on what outcome you want from the meeting and whether your "condition" could negatively impact that outcome.

I'd ride slowly in a thin dress shirt and shorts and put on a pair of decent trousers in the toilets, after I'd cooled down, if a tie is appropriate (And frankly, ties are totally useless items of apparel, I'd put one on as I changed from shorts.) Given the weather anyone wearing a suit is a twat.

I'd ride. It's far too much hassle extracting the car from the garage and it doesn't have air con anyway
My car has air con but 2¼ miles? It won't be efficient and the last thing the air quality needs is another short-hop polluter. I'd ride in full-on bimble mode, climbing very gently and walking if any climb's that severe. Oh and pack the mini body spray (which reminds me for this evening's ride...) I don't understand ft/mile - what are the %s?

That's quite a lot of climbing. I'd take the car and as somebody else wrote, enjoy the AC. It's not a sin to enjoy driving!

Danger! How long's the drive in forecast traffic at the time you'd do it? And Google is far too optimistic whenever I've tried it.
