Wrexham to Cairnryan, stop offs?

i've a drive from Wrexham to Cairnryan upcoming
wondering if anyone has any suggestions where to stop off for a spot of sightseeing along the way?
can afford a couple of hours to detour

If it's raining you could swing down to Whithorn and bimble along the coast on the A747. The scenery is stunning and there are quite a few easy to access, mostly free, historic sites along it too.

Gretna, Powfoot, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart.....
But do us a favour and don't spread the word, we don't want Dumfries and Galloway spoiled, like the North coast 500 .
