X35 System updating process MAHLE X35 systems require a special device called MAHLE GCU to be updated correctly, so we recommend that you contact your authorised dealer to carry out this update process properly. Latest firmware version available: V Q3. 2 Released 19 Sept 2022 which replace the latest X35 iMx Q3

https://mahle-smartbike.com/activecharger/ as I understand it firmware updates for the new X20 system may be downloaded and installed by the user, whereas for the X35 system you have little choice but to take your bike to a dealer to install them as Mahle make it difficult (and expensive) for private users to obtain the GCU. Until I know what the update updates, and whether it's necessary, I'm not bothering!

I would like to update the firmware on my Ribble CRG ALe which has the Mahle x35 system so I can purchase the Pulsar one display, which is not fully compatible with the old firmware.
I contacted Mahle and they sent me a list of UK service centres, I contacted my local one and they advised not to take the latest update as they have had issues with this update and it has not been successful. I was advised to wait for a couple of months to see if they issue a further update. Very annoying that you buy the system (which is very good) but then have to pay for further firmware updates.

Best to wait though if service centre is advising that direction. Sounds like a decent company stopping you from making your bike worse off

Any chance I could see the list too, please. I have a Ribble and it'll cost me £30 to send it to them for an update. I live in Surrey and the bike's out if warranty. They will do the update free but I have to pay for a box and collection.

I've been in touch with a store on the list and the response was a negative. Basically unless the bike was provided by the store in the first place they won't do the firmware update. Also, if not performed correctly the update can damage the battery. So there's another reason for not offering the service to non customers. Meanwhile I've been in touch with Ribble who've been very helpful and I'm returning my bike to them for the upgrade even though some carriage costs are chargeable to me. I hope this might be helpful to anyone reading this thread.

Having firmware update available - which may be fixing problems - but having to return it to the central factory (or whatever) seems a bit of an imposition - especially for something the size of a bike

I've never installed updates. No problems.

I too would like to update firmware on two Ribble bikes. Mine needs an update to make the PulsarOne work reliably and my wife's keeps having the pink flashing over voltage warning every time it's charged to 100%. Has anyone managed to get this done without returning their bike to Ribble? Ribble want me to send the bikes (at my own expense) to Preston for updating which is outrageous and ridiculous in this day and age. A while ago I tried to get Pure Electric in Bristol to carry out the upgrade but Ribble would not give them the update files even though you can get them from the Mahle website and Mahle say you can do it yourself with the GCU Cable. Are the firmware update files specific or customised to Ribble? I'm currently trying to get an answer from Ribble about this but have had no response so far.
