I got rid of the original necrotic, arthritic hip joint and replaced it with a titanium/ceramic/polyethylene model*.
It will be a while before I can test it on the bike, but I'm hoping it will give me a significant improvement in speed and power. It should also be much less painful.

*I admit that I didn't do the fettling myself, but I was in the room for the whole time it was being done ^_^.

A friend had hers done and finds everything much less painful now. I can't remember how long it took to get back on the bike but she gradually built up her fitness back to where it was and better! So all the best for the next few months!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
All the best on your recovery. Good news indeed if you have less pain to put up with. I hope the new year sees you back on your bike. Good luck.

Was it brand name titanium, or a cheap Chinese copy?
