Yet another 'funny noise'thread

My nearly new Giant Defy 2 is driving me scatty. When I first start riding the back wheel makes spokey/pingy sounding noises, after about 3 miles or so it all goes quiet. The spokes all seem to be OK. It's going back for its post sale service soon so they should fix it but it will help if I can point them in the correct direction.

Any ideas or should I just get my valet to ride it round for a bit before I set off?

How long has it being doing this and does it do it at the start of every ride? Could either be new wheels with the spokes de-stressing, or perhaps you have some spokes 'sticking' together where they cross-over/touch? Maybe drop a tiny bit of lube between the spokes where the cross/touch each other and see if that helps?

Didn't notice it early on but recently 400-600 miles it's been happening. Will try a bit of lube on the crossovers.
