SpokeyDokey

67, & my GP says I will officially be old at 70!

I got the bike yesterday and it actually has 700x40 on it. It was excellent on off road and gravel. On the roads, I didn't find much difference. If anything I had a bit more confidence on the front end. The majority of the roads where I live are terrible. Riddled with cracks and small holes. So I found myself able to ride with out the worry of putting 700x23 wheel into a pot hole and causing damage.

Which Hyde did you get in the end - Cube do a huge range of touring bikes as they call them.

You can always pump the tyres up to max for less road rolling resistance. Good you got one with rigid fork. How are the disk brakes?

Brakes are spot on. Really pleased with it. I don't find the rolling resistance that bad at all. I think the extra confidence I have got with the slightly wider tyres has far outweighed any rolling resistance.
