York prepares for t'tour - and out does Mytholmroyd

York has gone tour mad. There's actually so much of it that I'll create an album somewhere to pull it all together, but here are a few highlights (which hopefully won't take too long to load).

Lots of the shops here have yellow bikes in their windows too.

I saw a couple of wooden bike sculptures fixed to walls elsewhere on the route of stage 2.

How many sad, neglected old mountain bikes have had their dreams rudely interrupted by being hauled out of the shed and sprayed yellow?

I'm enjoying the reports about the labelling: Cote de Blubberhouses, Cote de Buttertubs etc. Just something very beautiful about that!

I was in Hawes yesterday and that's the same. Bikes and bunting everywhere. Some shop notices in French. One of the antique shops has the oddest, oldest exercise bike you can imagine.

And I was talking to a group of ladies who'd made the bunting. They'd obviously had a great time making it - lots of volunteers involved and meeting regularly to chat and sew. And getting to know each other better because of the event.
