Well said. In sports, the police, politics, they're simply reflecting the society they were recruited from

I agree, but elite sport seems to attract more of the unethical, and the ruthless. Similar I suppose to the pointy end of the pyramid in business, and politics. Many get to the top by having that win at all cost mindset.

Maybe sport is just far more open to public observation than other areas of life.

Whether those caught are ostracised, depends on the attitude of the authorities towards the offender. Eddie Merckx was caught cheating more than once, but it didn't seem to change public opinion towards him - largely down to the lack of willingness to make anything of it.
Merckx competed during a time when doping only had a minor (If any) effect on performance and was accepted as no more than a misdemeanor. Times change, and rather like the teacher shagging a fit sixth former and being regarded as a lucky bastard forty years ago but going down for a five stretch today, public attitudes have changed to.

I don't really care. There's orangutans that need a little assistance. Let the feckers do whatever they wish, I've no interest.

They can't risk Bolt testing positive for anything - it would quite simply ruin any credibility the sport has left and would be on par with Lance getting busted. Nothing to see here... move along
Is Lance now n athlete with the Jamaican team?

I had wondered where he was now since he's no longer on his bike
