When I was a kid I got so fed up with my parents' friends asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up that I started telling them I was going to be a nuclear physicist. That would shut them up.

I would always say that I wanted to be a Train Driver. Most people tended to trail away then too

Congratuations on the job norm, that is top news!

A while ago I used to work as a forensic IMHA- even those who knew what it was misunderstood the semantics of the job!

Gosh! I'm glad I'm out of all this stuff now - no more "True & Fair Views" or "Actuarial Valuations". I'm out of this post asap, bad memories. All I'm concerned about now is making sure I don't plan a bike ride out of term time.

Not on my watch, it isn't.

You're just saying that to appear all matey, but I know you 'black and white' accounting types. Underneath the smile and charm, and only just underneath, there's a Grim Reaper waiting to swoop with evil intent.

I'm officially an Information Services Engineer.

from that would you honestly guess that i deal with computers? i mean why do i have to be an engineer? why is it information services and not computer bum?

My job title is Reader. I'd bl**dy love it if I could actually do what my job title implies. As it stands I'm lucky if I get any time for reading proper stuff I'm supposed to read and not piles of banal administrative documents, emails and students' work...

My brother-in-law is a reader and says exactly the same thing... his job would be fantastic if there weren't any students.
