I suddenly get this message when going to the home page on my laptop. Connected to Internet via Community Fibre, but using my phone also connected to the Internet via same router, I can access the site.

Any reasons why my IP address had apparently been banned

I'll investigate.
Has @Scoosh been tampering with the IP addresses again??
I'm moving this to site support, for easier communication with Spen and because I think I hopefully sorted it.

Hello @spen666, I've moved your contact us to site support.
I have checked some of your log ins.
Have you got VPN enabled on your laptop?
Some of your log ins are from a VPN, a quick check shows one the generated IPs is on a spammer's database.

Thanks Pat - yes, I have discovered I had a VPN installed - not sure how or why that came about. I have removed it and uninstalled it.

Explains why my phone was not blocked but my laptop was.

Thanks

Well, if you need the VNP app on your laptop, just remember to set it to the UK when accessing CC, or switch it off.
I made the same mistake on my tablet, VPN was set to Germany, the Channel 4 app rejected me

I’ve had the IP address banned message here quite a few times in the past and been unable to open anything, leave it a while and all works again.
I do not use a VPN.

That could have been because your IP was under a spammer's IP range, so to speak.
Sometimes we get a lot of spammers from the same area, then we ban the whole area.
It's mostly abroad zones, but it has happened in the UK too.
After a while we get complaints, so we restrict the banned IPs zone.
Here is a better explanation.

FWIW… I am also getting the “IP address is banned” on my iPhone, in Google Chrome, but not in Safari
