Don't misjudge the tastes of younger members of CC. My nineteen year old son covets my vinyl collection which starts in the late sixties and covers the seventies and eighties too.

+1 its all about maximum exposure.... I was raised being exposed to a broad range of music genres and styles and am doing the same with Wigs Jnr (just filtering out Cliff Richard, Elaine Paige and Elton John :evil:).

My eldest got his first mp3 player for Christmas, he now has around 60 songs on it with a mix including Benny Goodman, Buddy Holly, Elvis, James Brown, Doves, Nina Simone, the Pigeon Detectives, the Hives, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, the Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal, Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, Guns n Roses, Duran Duran, the Eagles, David Bowie.....

..... and erm a couple of songs from the Alvin and Chipmunks soundtrack!

Dave R, there is nothing wrong with 1977. It is just that it made me feel like I am getting on, because some peeps on here are so young.

Where you in Coventry in 1977?

Yes, I moved up here from Kent looking for work in 1973, in 1977 I was living in a bedsit in Earlsdon , working in a small radio/TV workshop in Foleshill and running round on a bright yellow MZ 250 motorbike, happy days.

In 1977 I was at Coventry Technical College, studying French and Spanish.
I lived in Styvechale, near the Burnt Post. I had lots of friends living in Earlsdon. In 1978 I started work at J J Cash, near the Foleshill Road.

I saw a snow boarder dressed in this style. Get the discomfort for fashion thing but his bottom looked cold and think his leg movement would have been severely restricted. Really did not understand.

You know you're getting on when...

... you say to your missus "They're finally doing something to the railings along that footpath" ;)

I may be wrong but I think this look comes from "gangstas" spending the night in a cell, laces and belts are confiscated for safety reasons. So it's doubly hilarious to see this look being carried out USING a belt to cinch the waistline at lower buttock level.

... you suddenly think old-school shaving (double-edge razor, badger brush and shaving cream / soap) is wonderful and then spend months watching & buying vintage razors on eBay and shaving with a different one every day.

Still, stops me buying bike bits at the moment!

Wouldn't his feet being bound to a snowboard restrict his leg movement more?
