And I thought plotting the route for a ride I *might* do this time next year was sad.
I looked up hotels, train times and everything...

Its twenty past one in the morning and you're shopping online for the correct shade of grey-green to paint the inside of a Handley Page Halifax bomber... Slate Grey(31), dries more green than grey.

seriously, i've been searching and there's forums arguing over colour palettes... its an odd light green with a grey mixed in, its annoying, and i can't start my build without it... Hmph.

anything annoying you lot tonight :addict:

That grey is a bugger, I've heard there are at least 50 shades of the stuff.
Got everyone of them released to date, by Humbrol. More on the way though.

I've counted sixty Greys, of varying shades, from the same manufacturer. The tricky part is what black does he use? they have nine listed!

My grandad was a tail gunner in the Halifax in WW2 (obviously) went with my dad to view the one near Leeds earlier this year, very emotional!
The tail turret was the most important defensive platform on a bomber of that era!
You must be very proud of him, the air gunners really are some of the more forgotten vets of ww2, turrets were cramped and for the most part un-armoured, sometimes you couldn't wear a parachute whilst in one or leaving one whilst the plane was in trouble could be difficult especially if the hydrolic-electro assist has gone.
brave men all.

@classic33 - i'll take a good look at that slate grey m8 looks promising
@Red Light - actually i'm still in the plotting stages, eventually i hope to have larger R/C halifaxes crewed by semi-sapient voles (genetic experiment) that will allow me to drop eggs on david cameron whilst looking like a rather spectacular BBMF troup.

At 0300, I was trying to calculate how many trips it would take with gorrilla tubs full of topsoil, to move 3 tonnes of it round the back. 50 yards in total, plus down about 10 steps...

Not saying that their job was any less important, just that cockpit colour was required, hence me saying the wrong end of the plane.

Any of these yours!!
