Young children in cinemas.

Not been to a cinema since they stopped allowing people to smoke in em.
Decent widescreen telly and a 7.1 sound system in the front room now though. (The HiFi lives in the dining room/conservatory these days)

I can't afford the cinema at £11.50 a person. I went last year and saw Behind the Candelabra on an Orange Wednesday. I spent much of the the first half hour with some kid kicking the back of my seat, so we moved and the bloody kids moved with us. After a couple of moves, I popped out and grabbed a manager who 'moved' the kids to the outside of the cinema. No idea why the kids were not in school. The constant beeping of their phones was pretty annoying too.

Hubster went to see that film that was on recently with some gung-ho raccoon and said that he enjoyed it but he got no change from £25 by the time ticket, parking and a hot dog had been paid for. Parking was nearly £4 for heavens sake.

When I watch a film I want be sat in a quiet room with no distractions - this is why I find going to the cinema difficult.
Like Carl I've told people to be quiet several times before in my local odeon.

I belong to a film society which shows those films that wouldn't ordinarily make it to mainstream cinemas - everyone there is there for the same reason as me - bliss!

You deserve everything you got. I mean, as if the first one wasn't bad enough, they then made another two. It's people like you who are responsible for propping up these ageing relics of actors and funding the banality of crap we get on the cinema. It sounds like the four year old had the right idea and frankly, four is a little too old to watch Stallone, my kids grew out of him at 3.

I have stopped going to the cinema for a reason such as this.

I went to see the last in the LOTR trilogy and there was a women with a young boy of about 4 or 5 in the cinema. The boy was allowed pretty much to do what he liked during the film and his favorite activity turned out to be walking up and down the stairs. This in itself, although a bit distracting, wasn't so bad but when he was a sufficient distance from mummy he liked to TALK to her.

I swallowed it for about an hour and a half and in the end got up from my seat, went over to his mum and asked quietly if she could try and keep him quiet in his seat. Her response was to yell at me something about single parents being allowed to have a night out, then she got up and left.

She was clearly upset, and it made me think that perhaps she had no alternative and was desperate to get out of her house or something, and I felt a bit bad.

I know stopping going to the cinema is a bit of an over reaction but I want to enjoy movies on my terms, so I wait for Blu-Ray now.

I would not feel bad, she was just selfish and I would have warned her that if she didn't control her child I would have them ejected! Guilt none, pleasure 100%

I suppose you had to be there to see what I meant. She wasn't angry upset.

I still wouldn't care! A bit heartless maybe but if I've spent the small fortune it costs to go to the cinema now I expect it to be quiet. If you can't meet that expectation then don't go. Whenever I took my children (when they were young) I would go to the first showing of the day when I expected it to be quiet and even then I kept my children under control. It is good manners. She had none to expect other people to put up with her hyperactive, noisy child; it wasn't only her night out.

Last time I was in the cinema a group of lads were messing about and one was throwing food & sweets around which hit the Mrs & my son. I went over and told him if he didn't stop I would rip his f***ing face off his head. We didn't hear a peep out of them for the rest of the film.

I never go to the cinema either anymore - especially since the mobile phone nonsense started. I quite like Mark Kermode's cinema code of conduct here . A valiant effort but too late I fear. The ar$eholes have won.
