All this sign is warning you of is that you're close to the canal. How you wouldn't know that defies explanation .. but I suppose someone must have parked up along the road that obviously borders the canal without realising it and had a problem.

I didn't. I usually do potter around cemeteries but I was fitting my day ride into an afternoon as I'd used this morning to do a distillery tour.
