It's either the Med or the English Channel being photobombed by two knees and two Eccles cakes. The bike is the 2010 Cannondale CAAD9, which is riding like a dream again with a replaced shifter, new cables, and re-indexed gears.

The photo shows a triumphal exit. The roadworks were about 3 km further back, where about half the width of the road had collapsed towards the ditch over about 5 metres. Nobody working. One of those closures that can be kept as long as they like.

As recounted before, my favourite 'road closed' sign ever was one in France: "Route barrée - même aux cyclistes". They know what cheeky sods we normally are.
