I strongly suspect a lot of those places didn't get post boxes until the time of Eddie 7 - probably collected by the postie from the homes once a week or so, or possibly from a post office (not that there was likely to have been many of them)

You have to wonder how much longer they will continue to service these anyway as I can't imagine many people post letters anymore and most people have regularly go into town nowadays anyway.

It must cost a fortune to send someone out in a van to go to all of them.
